Music Makes Change

Music has inspired many types of social and political change. Our timeline demonstrates the capacity of music through history to influence behavior and have an impact on issues of concern.

The Music For Democracy website presents "How Musicians Have Responded to Politics: A Brief Historical Overview" by Eli Smith.

Emory University's "Metascholar" project has collected several excellent essays on the topic of music of social change.

This section will be expanded in other ways (noted below) to demonstrate how music makes and is making news around the world:
